Vegetables Two Ways - Very Veggie Die set | Altenew

Hello Friends,

Very Veggie die set altenew, Altenew,Guest designer - Altenew,Altenew Ambassador,Altenew Watercolor 24 Pan set,die cutting,Quillish,

There’s something so satisfying about turning a simple die cut into something that feels completely handmade and the Very Veggie Die Set is such a fun set to play with! For these two cards, I wanted to explore two very different ways of using the same vegetable dies. One became a loose, watercolor-painted patch of garden vegetables, while the other turned into a charming woven basket filled with a fresh harvest.

Both cards also gave me an opportunity to play with texture, dimension, and a little bit of watercolor magic.

A Watercolored Patch of Garden

For my first card, I went a little more adventurous with the watercoloring.
I die cut a variety of vegetables from watercolor cardstock and used loose watercoloring to bring them to life. Instead of trying to make the coloring perfectly realistic, I allowed the paint to move and blend naturally, adding darker areas and little touches of texture to give each vegetable some dimension. I especially love how the different colors work togetherthe purple and yellow root vegetables, the bright tomato, leafy greens, broccoli and peppers create a little patch of garden that feels almost ready for harvest.

I added the Rooting for You sentiment and a little twine bow to bring everything together. The torn edges of the Vellum add another layer of organic texture and help reinforce that loose, rustic garden feel. The sentiment, “You’re ripe with potential,” felt just perfect for this card!

A Basket Full of Harvest

For my second card, I used many of the same vegetable dies but took the design in a completely different direction. This time, the vegetables became a cheerful harvest tucked into a dimensional woven basket die set. I kept the inkblending  a little simpler, allowing the die-cut details themselves to do much of the work. I also added a patterned background created with Checkerboard tiles background . The blue-and-white pattern peeking out behind the basket gives the otherwise warm, earthy palette a lovely contrast. And of course, a few little white flowers and the “Your kindness is homegrown” sentiment add that final touch of sweetness.

I hope these two cards inspire you to get your hands on the Very Veggie Die Set and Rooting For you stamp set .
