TO - Festive Season in India

   Hello sweet friends,

Living in India, our seasons don't always look like the traditional autumn that comes to mind in many parts of the world. We don't experience the dramatic transition into a cold, harsh winter, with trees changing into shades of red, orange and brown. Instead, as the monsoon begins to retreat, we gradually move into a milder, more pleasant part of the year and, for us, this also marks the beginning of the festive season.

So, these are the colours of my season!

This time of the year is the season of flowers, festivities and gratitude with celebrations such as Navratri, Dussehra, Diwali, Karwa Chauth and Bhai Dooj. It is a time when our homes come alive with flowers, diyas, rangoli and decorations.

And one flower that I simply cannot separate from this season is the Marigold and I had the perfect Die for it too, Altenew's Spetember release - Craft-a-flower- Marigold layering die set

Marigolds are especially associated with Indian festivities. Their brilliant yellow and orange blooms are used in garlands, torans, rangoli decorations and to adorn entrances, temples and homes. Marigold is also a very popular flower crop in India, with demand increasing around major festivals. So when I thought about seasonal colours where I live, my mind went straight to those gorgeous marigold oranges and yellows, surrounded by the deep, rich colours that I see everywhere during the festive season.

For my card, I chose a  deep maroon background, that gives me that rich, traditional feel, while the warm oranges and yellows bring in the colours of marigolds. The green foliage adds contrast, and of course, I couldn't resist adding a little gold embossing with this amazing stamp that remindes me of rangoli - the art that we do with rice flour or paste on the floors at the entrances with - Dynamic duo- Crescent flowers.

And since I'm already thinking about Diwali, I decided to turn this challenge card into a Diwali card🪔
