In this upcoming class, I'm not just teaching you how to assemble a beautiful underwater scene. I'm sharing the design principles that transform a collection of die cuts into artwork.

Together, we'll create this layered ocean scene while exploring the "why" behind every design choice.

We'll explore how varying shades of cardstock naturally push elements into the background or bring them forward, creating a convincing underwater scene without complicated techniques.

 Why color value matters more than color

Instead of simply choosing blues that match, you'll learn how light, medium and dark values create dimension and visual interest.

 Visual storytelling through placement

Why is the larger fish near the top? Why is the seahorse tucked into one corner? Discover how thoughtful placement guides the viewer's eye through the card.

 Creating movement in a static design

Learn how curves, flowing seaweed and the direction your images face create a sense of gentle underwater movement.

 The art of visual balance

Not everything has to be symmetrical. You'll learn how to balance larger focal elements with smaller details so your card feels harmonious.

 Layering without clutter

Adding more die cuts doesn't always make a better card. I'll show you how to overlap elements intentionally to build depth while keeping the design clean and easy to enjoy.

 Understanding focal points

Every successful card has somewhere for the eye to land first. We'll discuss how contrast, placement, and layering naturally create that focal point.

 Small details that make a big difference

From adding tiny bubbles to tucking seaweed behind the seahorse, you'll discover how subtle finishing touches bring an entire scene to life.

 Making the most of your supplies

Rather than simply following instructions, you'll learn how to think about scene building so you can apply these same principles to any layered die-cut set in your stash.
