Celebrating my Alte-versary πŸ’•

Hi everyone,

Who is not a fan of Altenew? But did you know, Altenew,  the name literally combines “old” (Alte in German is for old ) and “new.” And I absolutely love that meaning because it reflects exactly how I create ..mixing older favorites with fresh supplies to make something new and exciting. As it was February last year, that I finished my Altenew Educator's program and became an Educator, I feel really blessed to be celebrating my Alte-versary - in ways I couldn't have even imagined.

My first class in Altenew Academy - Timeless Botanicals - II went live

I was featured as Guest designer for February at Altenew Blog

and I was invited to Host Altenew's Facebook Fan Page for a weekend.

In January, with no date available for February's AECP class for me, I got bit sad that I will not be able to celebrate one year with the people who have encouraged and supported me in this journey and then.. as if to compensate .. I had all these opporunities showered on my lap πŸ₯° tell me if it's not God's miracles at work? πŸ₯Ή

During last weekend’s Altenew Facebook Fan page takeover, I played with this idea of “old and new,” and the joy didn’t stop there. I continued creating with the same mindset stretching one basic die and seeing how far I could take it.

All four of these cards were created using one foundational die the ZERO WASTE 3D Floral Cover Plate Die and then I simply built different elements around it. I truly love it when you can get more from limited supplies. It challenges creativity in the best possible way! Also, the flowers that are cut out of these, have the prettiest design and you can even stack them to make a volumnious flower.

Card 1 – “Friendship Bloom"

My original Alte + New card was this, with the Ornamental lantern layering die set with a lovely flow inside, surrounded by the pretty flowers of the Zero Waste 3D Floral Cover Plate Die for the Altenew Facebook Fan Page take over, that I wanted to make into a Zoom worksop. I was so glad to see many crafter friends, come and support me and some new friends that we made that day, 15 Feb 2026.

The Zoom workshop was fun and we had the generous Paula Gollady who gave a surprise Gift certificate to one of the attendees and Audrey Meyer winning it. Also 2 GC's that Altenew provided were won by Tammy Lirk and Elizabeth Ortiz. It was a lot of fun playing the Guessing games :D

Card 2– “You Are Timeless”

After the first card I had some flowers that were not used up, so I turned them into this card.

For this card, I used the Zero waste 3D Floral Cover Plate Die as a subtle textured backdrop and created a floral cluster framing a gold window element with the hourglass. The soft pastel base with pops of pink and yellow makes the gold details shine beautifully. I kept the sentiment simple — “you are timeless”  letting the florals and dimension do all the talking. It feels elegant yet cheerful at the same time.

Card 3 – Facebook Live Card Turned Eid Card

This one is extra special because I created it during my Facebook Live at Altenew. After the session, I looked at it again and realized it would make the most beautiful Eid card so I converted it into one! I used the same Ornamental lantern layering die set and arranged flowers from the Zero waste - 3D Floral cover die around it.

I added the bold “Eid Mubarak” sentiment, by die cutting letters from the very cool alpha dies from Creative cuts- EZ arrangement antique leaves layering die set and suddenly the floral frame and glowing lantern felt even more festive and meaningful. I absolutely love when one design can evolve into something new just by changing the sentiment. That’s truly the magic of stretching your supplies.

Card 4- Bright “Hello” Card

This card is created inspired by a Photo Challenege happening at Time Out challenges. Read more about it here. For this card, I went in a completely different direction. The 3D Floral Cover Plate Die again creates that gorgeous detailed background, but this time I paired it with bold rainbow stripes that I created with Altenew dye inks and Watercolor stripes stencil and a striking black sentiment panel, made with white heat embossing on black cardstock with Creative Labels - complete set

The bright florals layered on top bring so much energy and happiness to the design. It’s playful, modern and proof that the same die can look completely different depending on color and layout.

Creating these cards reminded me why I love crafting so much, it’s not about how many supplies you have, but how creatively you use them. Mixing old and new, stretching one die into multiple designs, and reimagining a project for a different occasion brings so much joy.

I hope this inspires you to pull out one favorite die from your stash and see just how many ways you can reinvent it!
